Home Page for Mrs. Lacina, Instructional Coach

In December of 1981 I graduated from the University of Iowa. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with a minor in physical education and a coaching endorsement. I married my husband Tom Lacina and moved to Lone Tree in March of 1980. I did my student teaching at Lone Tree Community School in the third grade, and Mary Menard was my cooperating teacher. When I was first married and having children I owned and operated the Learning Tree Preschool-Daycare in Lone Tree and I coached for the Lone Tree School’s junior high girl’s volleyball, track, and softball teams on and off for years. I have been teaching at Lone Tree Community School since January of 1990 when the school implemented all day every day kindergarten. I was hired as a kindergarten teacher. I taught in kindergarten for 3 years and then moved to third grade. I have been teaching in the third grade ever since. I live on my husband’s family farm in Riverside, Iowa. We moved to Riverside, Iowa in 2001. I have three children. They have all graduated from Lone Tree School. My oldest son is Benjamin Lacina is married to Amanda, and has three daughters Madilynn, Caleigh, and Evelyn. Benjamin works for O’Toole Farm Products in Letts, Iowa and Amanda works at Trinity Hospital in Davenport, Iowa as an E.E.G. technician. They live in Letts, Iowa. My daughter Diana Bandow is married to Joe. She is a nurse at the UIHC in the NICU and Joe works at Scheels. They have two children Jackson and Drake. They live in Riverside, Iowa. My youngest son, William is married to Katarina. They have two children Ava and Maya. During my limited free time I enjoy playing and spending time with my grand children. I also enjoy sewing and quilting. I have 5 sisters who live throughout the United States and we always get together for a trip once a year. My family and I travel and go to local festivals. I really enjoy historical places and learning about the way things were made or produced in the past.
