Home Page for Mrs. Wright, 4th Grade

Hello! My name is Jen Wright and I am thrilled to be teaching 4th grade at Lone Tree Elementary! This is my first year teaching 4th grade, and I am looking forward to this learning experience with such a great group of children. Prior to this year, I taught 3rd grade here for 4 years. Before that, I was Lone Tree’s Extended Learning and Enrichment teacher for 4 years. I have also taught at Prairie City-Monroe School District, just East of Des Moines. I must admit that, though my husband and I are Hawkeye football super-fans, we are not native Iowans. My husband, Ryan, and his academic pursuits brought us to this great state. We both graduated from Western Illinois University, where we met. I was a Resident Assistant and served as President of our Volunteer Organization. I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with specializations in Language Arts, Science and Math. I also hold an endorsement in Gifted Education through the University of Iowa. The education field has always been a passion of mine. As the oldest of all the grandchildren in my family, I always had younger people to learn from and with. I have two siblings. My sister lives and works in Indiana and my brother lives in Illinois with his wife and son, Jeremy. My husband and I call Iowa City home, where we reside with our rescued dog, Onyx. She loves going on car rides and long walks. She is also very good at swimming and playing fetch. I have many interests and hobbies and they change frequently. Some current hobbies of mine are camping, fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and playing volleyball when I have time. We also love to spend time with our family and friends. I feel very grateful to have the opportunity to teach and learn at Lone Tree Elementary, where teachers care about students!
